Aamie & Jim // When Wedding Photographers Wed // A Photographer’s Wedding

When wedding photographers wed; On July 5, 2014 we got married! Our wedding day was everything we could have wished for and nothing short of a fun time. Since we’ve been married we always end up referring back to our wedding day, when discussing our clients big day with them. We book a lot of clients with personalities much like ourselves, and we love that! So we decided why not share a blog of our wedding day photos to capture what was special to us and to show what goes on when wedding photographers wed. Choosing a wedding photographer is one of the most important things you’ll book for your wedding day. That person is usually with you from the time the hair goes up until long after the sun goes down. As wedding photographers, we know how much work goes into photographing a wedding, the lead up – not to mention the countless hours spent processing afterwards. For us, it was an easy decision. We knew we wanted to spend the day with someone who would enjoy our antics and capture every silly moment, and Sandra Lee Photography did just that. Sandra is a one of a kind, kind-hearted, give ya the shirt off her back kinda gal, who we still rave about to this day. Her husband Conrad also photographs with her and is also off the charts – amazing! While our province is filled with great photographers, we always knew Sandra was the fit for us, and going back through the photographs to pick this blog, completely reminded us why. If you know us personally, you know we’re fun, laid back and cool (or like to think we are), so having my clutzy or foolish moments and Jim’s funny faces captured was exactly what we wanted, dreamed for and received. Like so many others, candid photographs are our favorite, as they give you a real sense of moment. Looking through our photographs, we get brought back to so many moments. Between us being silly (and maybe a little tipsy), Sandra & Conrad managed to capture so many beautiful shots of us that now hang throughout our home. As photographers ourselves we know how difficult it is to stay after the day is done and party with the couple (when invited). You are so tired, drained and sore – that sticking around once the camera’s are shut off is rare, however we love to do it when we can. So of course we invited Sandra and Conrad to lock away their gear and have some fun with us. Although we thought they may decline after putting in such a long days work, moments later we were all kickin’ it and killin’ it on the dance floor! We couldn’t have asked for a better end to an amazing wedding day.

Wedding Vendors

Although this blog focuses mostly on us and our photographers, there were quite a few hands who played a part in making our day what it was. AWESOME! Here’s a few, and the list goes on…
Brides Hair – My girl Rhonda! At the time she worked at Salon One, but now calls Uptown Hair Design home. Rhonda can actually be seen on the dance floor in some of our photos having a scuff, as she’s a dear friend too.
Brides Makeup – I’ve been doing my own makeup since I was 2. Wedding day was no different, however I also did my sisters!
Music themed Saved the dates, invites, programs & wedding favors- DIY
Decorator – Deanne Hill (a big thanks to Deanne for allowing me to add in so much DIY at our reception)
Cake – Our stunning music themed wedding cake was created by Cathy Brown (Aamie’s Aunt) = total cake genius!! We didn’t want them to cut it up we loved it so much!
Flowers – Don O’Keefe of O’Keefe’s Flowers in the Goulds. From the time I spoke to Don on the phone to the moment my flowers arrived he reassured me that he could create exactly what I had in mind, and he was right!
Boutonnieres – DIY by my awesome Mom! I had found the music sheet roses during one of my frequent Michael’s Crafts visits. She took them and turned them into the most adorable boutonnieres!
Garter – My amazing mother also made my gorgeous garter. Parts of her wedding dress along with my something blue created the most personalized and beautiful garter.
Reception Venue – Holiday Inn, a huge thanks to Ann George for making our experience a ‘holiday’ 😉
Church – St. Patricks, Patricks Street. We loved the long aisle and the beautiful architecture. They were great to work with and we love going back there to shoot weddings.
Wedding Dress – Ever After Bridal Salon. Let’s talk about perfection! These ladies know how to make you feel beautiful. We work with so many wedding dress companies on styled sessions, that choosing one to visit first was difficult. I choose Ever After as it was originally located just 2 minutes from our house(and I’m all about easy!). It was my first stop, and my last! The first dress I tried on, was the one I purchased. Paloma Blanca – Canadian made.
Groom & Groomsmen Suits – The Model Shop. I’ve been purchasing things from the Model Shop since I was just a little girl and always admired their downtown displays as you drive by. I remembered seeing a suit that I knew I wanted to see my future husband wear, and couldn’t wait to see all the groomsmen spiffed up in them! Lori and her team are top notch!
Photographers – Sandra Lee Photography. Sandra and Conrad were awesome to work with if you didn’t already get that from the rest of our blog lol. Much like ourselves these guys made the wedding day photography fun and exciting. We had a blast.
DJ services – Jim’s was a musician, and I love a good tune. Choosing just the right vendor for our Music themed wedding was important! Colin Skinner rocked the Holiday Inn until they kicked us out! His system is more advanced than many others and his playlist is endless. From the lights, the laser projector to the music, the night was perfectly partied!
Dinner Music – We loved every moment of Brett Vey’s soft dinner music played so elegantly on piano. Brett’s a great friend, and is the owner of the Music Box in CBS.
Photography Location’s – Thank’s Fred’s Music store for allowing us to drop in and purchase our favorite album on our wedding day, and snap a few photographs. You guys rock! Admiralty House – you know I love you! You guys have been featured in so many of our blogs and featured magazine articles. We just had to visit on our wedding day and make our own memories there. Thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful grounds.  We also stopped by Cape Spear, the most easterly point in NL for some gorgeous photographs.

Just like many other couples we put a lot of hard work into our wedding day, however like most it would not have happened without the help of so many family and friends. We want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU for being there and making our day everything we could have dreamed of.

LOVE – Aamie & Jim
